SF6 Monitoring Products
Utilities face issues and problems with leaking assets, trying to keep them in operation until a managed shutdown can occur to repair them. The Smartfill CTU, a leak management system, solves this problem as it is specifically designed to be a live continuous topping up device, which provides automated, on-demand top-up capabilities in the event of a leak, meaning no human input is required.
In times of uncertainty and unexpected events, the CTU enables utilities to ensure business continuity during periods of reduced staffing levels. We are seeing more frequently the CTU is being added by utilities to their emergency response equipment register, for situations where assets must remain operational.
Working in a similar way to the Smartfill MFU, the CTU utilises a mass flow controller and pressure sensors to continuously measure the gas in a compartment, and once the pressure drops below a threshold, the CTU kicks in and delivers a sample of gas to push the pressure back up.
Designed to be left in the field for extended periods of time, the CTU is filled with safety conscious technologies to ensure safe and secure operations. These micro-top-ups use less gas and ensure the asset remains operational and at peak performance. This saves time, engineer downtime, and also reduces the risk of over filling or flash filling, causing a flashover arc. For key assets showing leakages, where functional performance may be effected by low SF6 levels, the CTU offers the best solution.
